August, 2004
       

What do we say about August? To those who have a birthday this month,itis just as important as any other month in the year.  But there is no holiday to celebrate so we must be content to find our own reasons to celebrate.  I''ve heard that Friendship week is some time in August.  We all have friends we can contact and thank them for what they mean in our life.  Another author reminds us that on August 7th, it will be only six weeks until fall, and just twenty weeks until Christmas!  Many schools will begin at the end of the month, signaling the start of another academic year.  These are the days for family reunions with the peak coming on August 9 - Family Reunion Day by Presidential Proclamation.  So, it is a month to reminiscence about days gone by and look forward to making new memories.

Our Life Story

When we review  our earthly life
From the hilltops of glory,
We will acknowledge that God
Was helping us write our life story.

Will we have the words written right?
Will each punctuation mark be in place?
Will we be happy with what we've written,
When we meet our Master face to face?

As we 'write' this life story each day,
Let us follow and let Him lead.
He's given us instuctions in His Word.
Let us study and take heed.

He knows exactly where we should go
And every word we should say,
Why can't we wait for him to lead,
And then His directions to obey?

He never walks too fast for us
To follow in His footsteps.
He gives us grace and understanding
To grasp the meaning of His precepts.
