Fern Hanlin Coberly's Golden Gems

   FERN HANLIN COBERLY was born in Kanawha County, West Virginia, July 21, 1928.  Her parents moved to Gilmer County when she was a child. She attended public school in Tanner, WV and graduated from Tanner High School in 1946 and attended Glenville State College. She received an Accredited Records Technician Certificate and served as Medical Record Librarian at Spencer State Hospital for thirteen years. Her husband, Ray, went to be with the Lord in 1974. She enrolled in Appalachian Bible College, Bradley, West Virginia in 1976, and graduated with honors in 1980. She was chosen for membership in the esteemed Delta Epsilon Chi Honor Society by the faculty. She was appointed Assistant Dean of Women at ABC in 1979 and promoted to Associate Dean following graduation. She served in that office until her retirement in 1989.   She  completed The History of Appalachian Bible College which was published in September, 2000. She continues to enjoy her lifetime ambition of writing, Her hobbies include reading, and counted cross stitching, along with many pleasurable hours at the computer. She prepares a monthly paper, Golden Gems, for her family and friends   Her toy poodle, Taffee, is her constant companion. In May, 2004, she moved to Elyria, Ohio where she is an active member of The Church of the Open Door,
